Meet the Provider
What led you to become a nurse practitioner or choose your focus of medicine?
I made the decision to become a nurse practitioner after working in the field of nursing for 25 years. I realized I wanted to expand my knowledge base and become a provider.
What about your line of work do you find most rewarding and why?
The most rewarding part of my work is meeting patients and their families. They are always more than patients with me.
What is something about you that only your patients would know?
They know that I want them to be a part of their plan of care.
How would a patient describe you?
I would hope a patient would describe me as kind and caring.
What is your proudest moment as a nurse practitioner?
I am proudest when I see someone get it when we are discussing lifestyle changes that can improve their future.
In your opinion, what s the most important factor in an advanced practitioner-patient relationship?
Trust is the most important factor in the relationship between any health care provider and their patient. Without trust, everyone has wasted their time and resources.
What can a patient expect when they have you as a nurse practitioner?
A patient can expect me to make every effort to meet their cardiac health care needs and to be entirely honest. Even if that isn t popular.
What do you find most encouraging about the work you do?
The most encouraging part of my work is when I make a positive difference in a patient s life.
What are your top priorities with every patient you see?
My top priorities with every patient include being honest, helpful and taking the time to address their concerns.
Describe one of the top ways you can ensure each patient receives the quality personal health care he/she deserves.
One of the top ways I can ensure each patient receives the quality, personal health care they deserve is to listen to their concerns.
Is there anything more or extra you would like prospective patients to know about you?
I love spending time with my family. We like cookouts, spending time on the beach and the river and listening to live music.
Do you have any special medical interest?
My original training focused on holistic care. No matter the health problem, I will treat the patient as an individual with needs and interests that extend beyond that one problem.
